Overview

About Fall Risk & Mobility

Most falls happen because several small things add up: leg weakness after an illness, a new medication that causes lightheadedness, dim hallway lighting, or a loose throw rug. We check each of those pieces during our visit and put together a practical plan tailored to your home.

When your doctor orders therapy, physical therapists work with you on leg strength, balance, and walker technique, while occupational therapists practice safe ways to step into the shower, get out of bed, and use the stairs. We also show family members how to lend a steady hand without straining their own backs.

Questions

Fall Risk & Mobility FAQs

All frequently asked questions

Do you install grab bars or bathroom rails?

While we do not do hardware installation ourselves, your therapist will show you the exact spots where grab bars, a shower bench, or a raised toilet seat will help most, and we can connect you with local resources.

I feel shaky on my feet. Will the exercises be too hard?

Never. Your physical therapist starts right where you are today, often beginning with gentle seated or bedside movements, and builds up gradually as your legs get stronger. Your safety comes first at every visit.

What should I do if a fall happens?

Take a slow breath and check for pain or injury before trying to move. If you hit your head, feel significant pain, or cannot get up safely, call 911 right away. During your visits, your therapist will also practice safe floor recovery and emergency call options with you.
